The Red Pill

There is a lot of discussion around the red pill in The Matrix. There was one analysis that the red pill is relative to the Biblical apple that was the cause of the banishment of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden. The consumption of the apple lead to Adam and Eve's exodus out of paradise, the red pill leads to Neo's exodus out of the matrix. Another discussion on the red pill is what it really represents. Morpheus states the blue pill is will lead to the same life that Neo had before, the known. The blue pill is leads to something that Neo is familiar with, something safe. The red pill however leads to an unknown truth, to an unsure existence. The blue pill is blissful ignorance, thus one can justify the taking of the pill that there is no purpose of an ignorant existence. The red pill is enlightenment, which maybe the only key to true understanding.
